The Art Gene Gallery is a new purpose-designed 792 sq. metre / 2600 sq. ft. space, top-lit from a high barrel-vaulted ceiling, with an ash wood floor and under-floor heating.
It is located in a newly redeveloped Edwardian building, on Abbey Road, a main thoroughfare into the town centre of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, on the outskirts of the Lake District, in North West England.
Exhibition programming is initiated by Art Gene staff though invitation and thematic calls made within the context of Art Gene's mandate and goals, and through exhibition and curatorial submissions from artists and curators.
The gallery is accessible by a passenger lift for people with special access needs.
The gallery is currently undergoing redevelopment, for information about this project and a time lapse film of the gallery please view the Capital Project page.
