When We Were Here was an exhibition of new and existing works by 6 artists who had been recent artists in residence at Art Gene.

The exhibition included installation, photography, sculpture, and video presenting an insight into what can happen when artists spend time making work in a new environment.

Without exception all 6 artists in When We Were Here created new works that both relate to and ask questions about the changing architectural, geographical, and social landscapes of Barrow and its surrounding area.
